Three million people worldwide die from COPD or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease every year. In different countries of the world, 8 to 20 percent of people are victims of this disease. The incidence rate of Bangladesh is 12.5 percent. In this country, 56% of the financial cost of all lung diseases is spent on COPD treatment. Not only that, COPD is the third leading cause of death worldwide.
We can stay free from this disease by quitting smoking, a pollution-free environment, getting regular vaccinations, and exercising. COPD should know that. Must be prevented. And for those who are already affected, they need better treatment.
What is COPD?
But it starts 15-20 years before symptoms appear. Maybe a person has been smoking for 20 years, his symptoms appear many days later. Basically symptoms like cough, phlegm, shortness of breath, wheezing in the chest appear in this disease.

Prevention and awareness:
Wear a mask when going out. It not only gets rid of germs but also air pollution.

Practice frequent hand washing with soapy water. Wash hands with soap before eating. If you don’t have soap, you can use hand sanitizer.
Avoid shaking hands or shaking hands with others. Diseases spread from one person to another. Do not touch anywhere.
Stop spitting everywhere. Dispose of tissues in a closed dustbin after use. Wash the handkerchief. Don’t throw the used mask away and throw it in the dustbin.
Try to stay in open weather. Provide plenty of light and airflow indoors.
The immunity of the body should be increased to prevent the infection of tuberculosis, corona etc. So take proper treatment for long term diseases like diabetes, heart disease, kidney problems. If you are over 40, take regular doctor’s advice and checkup. Eat nutritious food. Maintain a healthy environment.
Avoid tobacco and smoking. Smokers accumulate waste very quickly in the veins and ducts of the lungs. Due to this, the flow of air is obstructed. Smoking during pregnancy causes birth defects. Tobacco cigarettes, jorda, gull, white leaves are deadly no matter how they are taken.
The environment must be protected. A lot of trees should be planted. Be aware of air pollution.
The road itself should be cleaned as quickly as possible without leaving dirt and waste on the road day after day.
