Dengue – prevention and protection

What is dengue?
  • Dengue is a viral disease. The disease is spread by the bite of the Aedes mosquito. Due to which deadly fever is felt
  • Dengue fever is curable with normal treatment, but hemorrhagic dengue fever can be fatal
Symptoms of dengue fever:
  • fever
  • Excessive headache
  • Pain around the eyes
  • Pain in the pecs and bone joints
  • Vomiting and nausea
  • Red spots on the skin
  • Bleeding from the nose
Treatment for Dengue:
  • Expert advice should be sought
  • The surrounding environment should be kept clean
  • The test given by the doctor should be done
  • Medicines should not be taken on their own
  • Medicines like aspirin should not be taken as they thin the blood
Prevention from dengue:
  • Try not to stay in densely populated areas
  • Use mosquito repellents at home
  • Wear full-sleeved clothes when going out wear socks
  • Put nets on the windows or keep the doors and windows closed
  • Use air condition if available
