Rubella
What is Rubella?
Rubella is a highly contagious viral disease. The germs of this disease enter the healthy body mainly through the respiratory system with the help of air and cause the symptoms of rubella disease. If pregnant mothers are infected with the rubella virus during the first 3 months of pregnancy, there is a 90% chance of mother-to-child transmission. In such cases, the fetus may die or be born with various congenital complications known as congenital rubella syndrome (CRS).
How does it spread?
The germs of the disease from a person infected with rubella enter the healthy body through the respiratory system with the help of air.
Symptoms: A light rash of pink color is seen. The rash first appears on the face, which spreads throughout the body in the next 5-7 days. Swollen glands in the neck, low fever, chills and cough, sore throat, headache, redness of the eyes, loss of appetite, nausea, and in some cases, bone and joint pain, feeling unwell.
Prevention: Only vaccines can prevent rubella virus.
